Protecting our Environment
Climate change is an urgent challenge that impacts Colorado’s natural beauty, economy, and way of life. As a parent, I have seen the impacts of poor air quality on my children's health and on our community’s health. That’s why I went to work for the Colorado Sierra Club on clean energy and clean air initiatives. While I was on Northglenn City Council, I lead the charge to build the city’s first all electric city hall, save money through energy efficiency and adopt policies to improve our air quality.
In my first term, I ran legislation to improve energy efficiency in our homes and buildings, crack down on corporate polluters who contribute to our poor air quality and was honored to serve as vice chair of the House Energy and Environment committee. I believe that protecting our environment is a win for both workers and our economy. Investing in high-quality, recession-proof jobs that support a family means workers can use their hard earned skills, our kids can study for the jobs of the future and we can keep Colorado colorful and resilient for generations to come.
